Are you new to LR?
Welcome! We are so happy to have you. Before you get started on your Latin dance journey with us, here’s what you need to know. To start, you will need to create a profile with Wellness Living right here. If you have a partner joining you, they will need their own profile as well. Here are some FAQ’s to get you started.
I’ve never taken Latin dance classes before, where do I start?
You want to start with a class titled “Basic 1 Salsa” or “Basic 1 Bachata”. Any style as long as it is Basic 1.
I have dance experience but have never taken a class at LR, where do I start?
After creating a profile for yourself, email us at [email protected] or call 312.733.2723 to set up a free assessment. We want to be sure you have the best learning experience in the appropriate class.
How long will it take to learn Salsa or Bachata?
Our Latin dance academy teaches Latin dance styles like Salsa and Bachata from our own unique curriculum. Here is an example of the different levels and the duration you can expect to spend at each level.
How do our classes work?
Our curriculum-based classes are 4-weeks long. Each class is 1-hour long and meets once a week. For example, if you register for a Basic 1 salsa class on Monday at 6:00 pm, that is your class for the next 4 weeks.
How much do our classes cost?
$90 per 4-week session. You get a total of 4 1-hour sessions for $90.
Do I sign up as a lead or follow?
That is really up to you. A lead is a person who executes the signals or leads in the dance. The follower is the person who will react to the lead’s signals to become a great follower while dancing. A lead is typically a male while a follower is typically a female. However, we are an inclusive dance studio and welcome all students to try learning both positions. The more you know, the better dancer you will become.
How does your schedule work?
Since our classes run on 4-week sessions, our starting date varies each month. We recommend you check our website to see when the next session date begins. Our new schedule is always released during the 3rd week of our current session. Following us on social media will also keep you up to date on the release of the new schedule.
How do I read your schedule?
Classes are listed by day of the week and time. 3 classes run every hour in different rooms. If you register for a Monday class at 6:00 PM, you would come to that class on that day, at that time, for 4 weeks.
